Following the catastrophic flash flood that swept through the Bhote Koshi River on August 26, 2026, Women Awareness Centre Nepal (WACN) has successfully prepared and delivered emergency relief supplies to the affected communities.
Prioritizing the Most Vulnerable
The disaster has caused immense destruction across several districts, directly and indirectly affecting an estimated 157,050 women and girls in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. Furthermore, reports indicate that more than 17,000 children have been impacted by the sudden flooding.
Recognizing this critical humanitarian emergency, WACN has directed its relief efforts toward those most in need of immediate care. Our support operations have been specifically focused on:
- Children: Ensuring basic comfort and care needs are met during their displacement.
- Postpartum Mothers: Providing necessary hygiene, sanitation, and maternal support items.
- Senior Citizens: Offering essential provisions for individuals who are highly vulnerable to the physical toll of the disaster.
Relief Package Preparations
As seen in our recent community updates, the WACN headquarters was rapidly transformed into an operational hub. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly in the office and courtyard to sort, seal, and pack vital supplies for immediate dispatch.
